Clarity4Couples Privacy Policy

Last updated October 3, 2026 (version 2026-10-03)

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Clarity4Couples ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use our website, questionnaires, and AI analysis services (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy describes those practices. As part of creating your account, and before you can use it, we ask you to review and accept it as a separate, affirmative step, alongside our Terms of Service and our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect information such as your name, email address, and password.

Mobile Phone Number (Optional): If you choose to enable text message (SMS) delivery of two-factor authentication security codes, we collect the mobile phone number you provide for that purpose. Providing a mobile phone number is optional and is not required to create an account or use the Services.

Quiz Answers Submitted Without an Account: You can take a quiz without registering. Your answers are transmitted to our servers so that the quiz can be scored, and are then discarded. We do not store them, we do not create an account or profile for you, and we do not attempt to identify you or link the answers to any other information. Your browser holds an encrypted copy of the result for the remainder of your visit, so that you can unlock the detailed breakdown if you create an account. That copy sits on your device rather than ours, we hold nothing that corresponds to it, and it is deleted when you close the tab.

Questionnaire Answers Written Before You Have an Account: You can answer the first section of a questionnaire before registering. Those answers stay in your browser, in the tab you are using. Nothing you write there is sent to us, and we hold nothing that corresponds to it. If you then create an account, accept our policies and save them, the answers are sent to us and kept with your account as Questionnaire Responses, below. Until then your browser keeps them as plain text with that tab. They are removed once they are saved to your account, when you sign out, or after 24 hours, whichever comes first. Some browsers can restore a closed tab together with its data.

Quiz Responses and AI Analysis: In addition to questionnaire responses, we collect your answers to our quizzes, and we store the AI analysis generated at your request, which contains inferences drawn from your answers.

Partner-Use Screening Responses: Before you can send a quiz or questionnaire to a partner, or buy some questionnaires as a gift, we ask a short set of eligibility questions. Your device checks your answers first. If they allow you to continue and you then send the invitation, or go to payment for it or for the gift, they are sent to our servers, which check them again before it can go ahead. If you go on to send the invitation, or to the payment page for a paid invitation, we store your answers to the questions you were asked with that invitation, and check them again if you later correct the recipient's email address. We do not store the screening's result, and we do not store the answers you give when you buy a gift. If your device finds that your answers do not allow it, nothing from the screening is sent to us; if our servers find that, we refuse the invitation or gift without storing your answers, and our operating logs record only that one was refused and why, not who you are or what you answered. Stored answers are never shared with the partner you named, and are deleted along with the rest of your account data if you request deletion.

Recipient Email Addresses: If you send a Partner Share or purchase a gift, we collect the email address you provide for the recipient in order to deliver the invitation or claim link and any related reminders. We do not use a recipient address for marketing. Because these links do not expire, we keep the address with the invitation or gift for as long as your account exists -- so that an open invitation stays deliverable, and so that you keep a record of who you sent it to -- and we delete it when your account is deleted. For a gift or a paid Partner Share, our payment processor also receives the address with the purchase and keeps it in its record of that purchase. A recipient who does not want further messages can stop them using the link in any reminder we send, without creating an account.

Support Communications: If you contact us through our support chat or submit a support ticket, we collect the content of that conversation, which is hosted by our support provider. Please do not paste your questionnaire answers into a support conversation.

Payment Information: When you make a purchase, our third-party payment processor collects your payment card details. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers.

Purchase and Promotion Records: We keep a record of what you buy, what you paid, and any promotion applied. When you start a membership that begins with a promotional period, we also keep the renewal terms we showed you and when you agreed to them. We use these records to provide what you bought and any benefit that comes with it, to handle refunds and payment disputes, and to show that you agreed to automatic renewal. They are deleted with your account, except the payment and other records listed in Section 7 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

Records of Your Agreement to Automatic Renewal: When you start any membership, we keep a separate record of your agreement to its automatic renewal: the wording you agreed to, when you agreed, the plan, the version of any offer terms, our payment processor's references to you as its customer, to the checkout page you used, and to the membership, and when the membership started and ended. It does not include your name or email address. The law requires us to keep this record for at least three years after you agree, or one year after the membership ends, whichever is later, so we keep it for that long even if you delete your account, and then delete it.

Questionnaire Responses: We collect the answers you submit through our relationship questionnaires. They are encrypted in transit and at rest, and our application shows them only to you, unless you choose to share them with someone else.

Usage and Technical Data: Our website and sign-in pages sit behind a firewall, a service of our hosting provider, that records technical details of each request, including the IP address it came from and that address's country, the address requested, which can include campaign tags in a link you followed or, for the unsubscribe link in one of our promotional emails, your email address, the page that linked to it, and details your browser sends, such as its description of itself and its language, but not your cookies or sign-in token. Records made on or before September 25, 2026 can also include the cookies your browser sent and your sign-in token, which carries your name and email address. We keep these records for 30 days and use them only to protect the Services and keep them working. We also count visits to our pages and keep a cookie that labels how you arrived, as described in Section 3 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

Sign-in Records: Our sign-in service, run for us by our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services, records each sign-in to your account: when it happened, the IP address, approximate location, and browser or device it came from, and whether the second sign-in step succeeded. We use these records to protect your account, to investigate problems, and, if you dispute a charge, as described in Section 5. The sign-in service keeps this history for up to two years, and may keep it for that long even after your account is deleted.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: provide and maintain the Services; process payments and refunds; respond to payment disputes, as described in Section 5; provide any promotional benefit that comes with a purchase, and send the notices that go with it, such as renewal reminders; generate AI-based analysis for purchasers of that service; communicate with you about your account or purchases, and respond to your support requests; deliver one-time security codes and account security notifications if you have opted in to text messaging; send you promotional communications, such as the welcome email with a discount code that we send when you confirm your email address, where you have opted in or where applicable law otherwise permits; improve and secure our website; measure how well our own advertising works, using the visit counts and daily totals described in our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy; comply with legal obligations; and derive aggregate statistics, as described in Section 4, to develop new questionnaires and improve our offerings.

4. AI Analysis

When you request an AI analysis, we send our AI model provider the questionnaire's title, its section titles and questions, and your answers, without your name, your email address, or any identifier for your account. Anything you wrote in your answers is sent as you wrote it, so if an answer names someone, that name is sent too. The AI model processes your answers to generate your personalized analysis. If you approve sharing your answers to a questionnaire with the person who sent you a Partner Share, that person can request an AI analysis of them, which sends them to our AI model provider in the same way. We do not permit staff to browse customer responses. A small number of authorized personnel can technically access stored data where strictly necessary to operate the Services -- for example to investigate a security incident, correct a data-integrity problem, or comply with a legal obligation -- and any such access is limited, recorded in our audit log where it takes place in our systems on Amazon Web Services (apart from reading our record of the welcome discounts we have issued), and never used to build marketing profiles. We do not use the text of your responses for marketing.

We generate AI analysis using Amazon Bedrock, an Amazon Web Services product, which may check requests automatically for use that breaks its policies or those of the model's provider. For the model we currently use, Amazon Bedrock does not store the answers we send it or the analysis it returns, and no Amazon operator can access them, except that content its automated checks flag as apparent child sexual abuse material may be stored and reviewed so that it can be reported as the law requires. Amazon Bedrock does not pass what we send it, or the analysis, to the model's provider, Anthropic. We select AI providers that maintain appropriate data protection standards.

We also derive aggregate statistics -- for example, how many people completed a particular section, or how many sign-ups and purchases came from a particular advertising campaign on a given day. They do not contain your responses and are not designed to identify anyone. While our numbers are small, though, a daily total such as one purchase from one campaign could in principle be matched to an individual purchase in our own records, so we treat these statistics as confidential: we keep them internal, use them only to improve the Services, develop new questionnaires, and understand how people find us and how well our own advertising works, never share them with advertising platforms, and do not attempt to link them to any person.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Services, including payment processors, cloud hosting providers, our AI model provider, and our customer support provider. These service providers are bound by data-protection terms requiring them to safeguard your information and to process it on our behalf in order to provide their service to us. Some of them also process limited data for their own purposes under their own policies: Stripe uses payment information to prevent fraud, keep its services secure and improve them, and comply with the law, and Amazon Bedrock may check requests automatically for misuse of its service. We also share information with the other recipients described in this Section, which are not our service providers, including Anthropic, which handles what it receives under its own terms and for purposes of its own, as described below.

These service providers currently include Stripe (payment processing); Amazon Web Services (cloud hosting, database storage, email delivery, our sign-in service, the firewall that screens requests to our website, and the Amazon Bedrock AI model service); and Zoho (customer support ticketing and the support chat feature on our website, which, wherever it runs, lets Zoho see the address of the page you are on). We may update this list as our providers change.

Anthropic. Our staff use an AI assistant, Claude, provided by Anthropic, to build, maintain, and support the Services. Anthropic is not one of our service providers: we use its assistant under Anthropic's consumer terms, with the setting that lets Anthropic use conversations to improve its models turned off, and Anthropic handles what it receives under its own terms and privacy policy. When our staff use the assistant to investigate a problem, check how the Services are working, look up or list accounts for one of the purposes described in this policy, or answer a support or privacy request, it can receive records such as your name, email address, mobile phone number, and IP address, when you created your account and signed in, what you have bought, and whether you hold a membership, sometimes as part of a list covering many accounts, and, for a support request, what you wrote to us. Our staff do not use it to read your questionnaire or quiz answers or the text of any AI analysis, and do not send Anthropic feedback about conversations that involve your records. Even with that setting off, Anthropic may keep conversations that its automated systems flag as breaking its usage policy, review them, and use them to train its models, as described in Section 5 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

Payment disputes. If you dispute a charge and we contest the dispute, we give our payment processor, to pass to your card issuer, your name, email address, and IP address, details of the purchase, and a timeline of your account's activity, as described in Section 4 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. It never includes your answers or the text of any AI analysis.

Sharing with a partner, at your direction. If you use Partner Share, the answers and results you choose to share are disclosed to the specific person you designate. This never happens automatically. If you are the recipient of a Partner Share, your own answers are never disclosed to the sender unless you affirmatively approve it, and you may withdraw that approval at any time; the sender can see how far the invitation has got, as described in Section 5 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Clarity4Couples, our users, or others.

6. Data Security

We use encryption and other industry-standard security measures to protect your questionnaire responses and personal information. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

Quiz answers submitted without an account are not retained at all. They exist only for as long as it takes our server to score them and return your result, and are not written to our database or to any log. Because nothing is stored, there is nothing for us to delete later and nothing that could be produced in response to a request about it. Questionnaire answers written before you have an account are not held by us at all until you save them to an account; from then on they are kept as Questionnaire Responses.

We retain your personal information and your questionnaire and quiz responses for as long as you maintain an account with us, regardless of whether a membership is active. Deactivating your account does not delete anything; it restricts access to certain features and preserves your data so that you can reactivate later and pick up where you left off.

You can delete your account yourself from your account settings. We email a confirmation link first, and nothing is scheduled until you use it. Once you confirm, your account is scheduled for deletion within 30 days of your original request and locked in the meantime; you can cancel at any point before then by signing back in. After that, we permanently delete your account and the data associated with it, including your name, email address, any mobile phone number, your questionnaire and quiz responses, and any AI analysis generated for you, except the records described next. Some records are kept after deletion, including records we keep for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes, and any support conversations you have had with us, which stay in our support system, still associated with the email address you used, so that we keep an accurate record of what you asked and what we did. Section 7 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy lists every kind of record that is kept after deletion.

Deletion is permanent and irreversible. We cannot restore your account, recover your responses, or reactivate the account once deletion is complete. If you want to keep a copy of your responses, print them from your account before confirming deletion.

Copies held in our routine encrypted backups are deleted, or expire on the backup retention cycle, no later than six months after your request. While data remains only in a backup it is not accessed or used for any purpose.

If you have an active membership when you confirm deletion, we schedule it to stop at the end of the current billing period, including any free or discounted promotional period, so you are not charged again. Deactivating your account is different: it does not cancel your membership unless you choose that option when you deactivate.

Aggregate statistics described in Section 4 are not changed when an account is deleted.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; and request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@clarity4couples.com.

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website, remember your preferences, and analyze site traffic. You can control cookie settings through your browser, though disabling cookies may affect certain features of the Services.

Our customer support chat feature, provided by Zoho, also sets cookies in order to operate. We also set a cookie, lasting up to 90 days, that labels how you arrived at our website, as described in Section 3 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. Where required by applicable law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

10. International Data Transfers

If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers, including our AI model provider, operate. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer.

11. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. Creating an account requires you to confirm that you are 18 or older. Quizzes that can be taken without an account, and the first section of a questionnaire that can be answered without one, carry the same age requirement, stated before the first question. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected information from a minor, we will take steps to delete it.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, and we post each new version on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. If a change affects what personal information we collect, how we use it, or who we share it with, we also ask you to review and accept the new version, and where the change concerns consumer health data, you cannot continue to use the questionnaires and quizzes through your account until you accept it, as our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describes.

13. Text Messaging (SMS)

If you opt in to receive two-factor authentication security codes by text message, we use your mobile phone number solely to deliver those codes and related account security notifications. We do not use your mobile phone number for marketing, and we do not sell, rent, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We share your mobile phone number with our telecommunications and cloud service providers only to the extent necessary to transmit these messages to you. Our staff may also see it when they help with your account, including in the AI assistant described in Section 5. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Message frequency varies based on your account activity, and message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by removing your mobile number in your account security settings. For help, reply HELP to any message or contact us at support@clarity4couples.com. Additional terms governing our text messaging program are set out in Section 23 of our Terms of Service.

14. Email Communications

We use your email address to send you transactional messages necessary to operate your account, including purchase receipts and billing notices, password reset and account security messages, confirmations of changes to your account details, and Partner Share invitations and notifications. These messages are part of the Services and are sent for as long as your account remains active.

Where you have opted in, or where applicable law otherwise permits us to do so, we may also use your email address to send promotional messages such as newsletters, product announcements, and special offers. You may opt out of promotional email at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any such message, through the email preference settings in your account, or by contacting us at support@clarity4couples.com. Opting out of promotional email does not stop transactional messages, and does not change your text message preferences, which are managed separately as described in Section 13 above. Additional terms governing email communications are set out in Section 24 of our Terms of Service.

We do not sell or rent your email address, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share it with our email delivery provider to send you the messages described above, and with the other providers and recipients described in Section 5.

15. Consumer Health Data

Some of the information you provide through our questionnaires and quizzes may qualify as consumer health data under laws such as the Washington My Health My Data Act and the Nevada consumer health data law. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, available through a separate link on our homepage, describes the categories of consumer health data we collect, how we use and share it, and the specific rights you have with respect to it, including the rights to confirm whether we hold such data about you, to withdraw your consent, and to request its deletion.
